I occasionally will surf to lefty political websites to check out current opinion on the other side. I happened upon a bit concerning Sen. Rick Santorum’s recent statements concerning the “death” of post-Christian Western Europe at the Daily Kos(http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/4/3/74431/05509). The facts are indisputable that native Europeans have a birth rate less than the replacement rate to sustain their current numbers. Given that so many of the immigrants to their countries (many Muslims) who are reproducing progeny at a very high rate, native Europeans will become minorities in their own lands.
So the blog writer completely ignores the issue and diverts to suggest that Americans of European dissent will somehow be insulted that Santorum would point this out:
I wonder how all the European immigrants in Pennsylvania, the first and second generation European voters feel about Santorum telling them their cultures are “dying.” What a great way to win over voters who take pride in their heritage: tell them their loved ones overseas have nothing to live for. Santorum’s silliness strikes again.
But that’s not the strangest part. I was reviewing the comments section on this post to see whether other lefties would see the absurdity of the poster’s comments. I guess I should have known that instead of intelligent, reasoned support or refutation, we could expect to see comments like these three:

At least, I am pretty sure that was him I saw going into Club Cockring with some “special friends”. Or was it?

Then there’s that place that the gay boat tour guide told us had “the best collection of butt plugs I’ve seen…” Rick needs to discover himself.
In fact, I had a hard time finding any serious comments about this issue. So there you have it. Well reasoned, thoughtful commentary on an issue that will likely reshape Europe in the years to come.
